Gentle, Effective Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse

oliveoil.jpg

Recently, I had to go to Florida to visit my mom who was/is sick in a rehab center. It was a long 16 hour flight(s) over there from Hawaii, where I have been recuperating from my previous life in New Jersey. When I got there, however, I was in for a surprise. It had been many years since I spent any amount of time in Florida. Usually when I go it is for an extended weekend of marketing or some other networking event. This time, it was for 2 weeks — and the results were not good. Pretty much from the moment I arrived, my skin felt dry. Every shower I took make my skin itchy and sticky. My voice became hoarse — something I attributed to the lack of sleep at the time. However, over the course of the two weeks, both things became much worse.

By the time I returned to Hawaii,

I looked like a reptile.

The skin on my neck was irritated beyond anything I had experienced in recent years — even worse than what I had in New Jersey. The back of my legs — the same. Luckily my voice came back within 48 hours. For the first several days, I was so busy trying to get caught up again, I didn’t do anything to reverse the damage. But after about 5 days, I got sick of it and started brainstorming what I could do. The first day, I did a warm water salt flush by drinking a quart of warm water with 2 Tbs of sea salt in the morning. This proved to be helpful, but I knew the results wouldn’t last as the salt flush only clears the bowel. So I decided to go a level deeper.

That’s where the liver-gallbladder cleanse comes in.

I had done many of these over the past decade or so and the initial one I was introduced to was effective, but harsh. It entailed taking epsom salts. Besides having an exceedingly gross taste, it makes you feel like the gates of Hell have been opened in your rear. Talk about getting it from both ends! This protocol is NO joke. This gives natural remedies a bad name.

Last year, however, I encountered a variation that was much more “palatable” on both ends. I learned about it in a product called Candida Crusher, which was recommended to me from one of my Inner Circle members. I make a few small changes and it works great! Here’s the method. Make sure to check with a qualified practitioner who understands your particular situation before proceeding. Plan this so you will not be going to work or have any appointments on the morning of Day 3!!!!

  1. For 2 days, only drink organic apple juice (the cloudy kind) — between 2 and 3 liters per day, preferably between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM

  2. If you feel the need for solids, only eat peeled Granny Smith apples. I usually do about 5 total, but you can do more.

  3. At 6 PM on the second day juice 2 cups of grapefruit juice and mix with equal amounts of organic extra virgin olive oil. Sip this over the next 2 hours until it is done. If grapefruit is unavailable, you can use lemon juice, but don’t do it straight. Instead replace 40% of it with filtered water.

  4. Go to bed by 10 PM. Try to lay down on your right side as much as possible. You can also put a warm water bottle on your abdomen to relax the internal organs.

  5. You may need to get up several times in the middle of the night. After the apple has moved through your system, you will begin to see emerald green “stones” in your stool.

The results of the cleanse were nothing short of astounding.

Immediately, the itchy feeling in my skin reduced by at least half. Even better, I continue to see results on a daily basis — even 2 weeks later. Yes, there was clearly a lot of gunk stuck in my liver and gallbladder.

In my case, it was primarily the toxic sulfur-water in Florida that was causing my body to freak out. But that was the last straw.

Even if you haven’t been to Florida, these days, everybody’s liver and gallbladder system is taxed with a multitude of garbage that our bodies were never designed to have to filter in such great quantities. In my experience, vegetable oils, margarines and shortenings are the number one culprit. These rancid industrial oils are heavily processed and bear little resemblance to the natural fats humans have eaten since the beginning of time such as butter, cream, lard, chicken fat, tallow, avocado, coconut, or olive oil.

Real fats change break down into their original components whereas industrial oils and fats make no change at all. So often, I hear doctors tell gallbladder patients that their gallbladder has to come out because it is full of sludge. What do you think that sludge is?

Even if you don’t suffer from Candida, I suggest you pick up a copy of Candida Crusher. This is the book I wanted to write 20 years ago when I healed myself of Candida, but never took the time to write.

It is by far the best, most comprehensive book on the subject.

You may be thinking that you don’t have a problem with Candida, but think again. Upwards of 90% of the clients I have dealt with present with this problem.

It’s no wonder in a society that discourages people away from real fats and encourages sugars, artificial sweeteners, juices and copious amounts of fruit.

But if you suffer from frequent migraines, sensitivity to smells, food allergies or intolerances (yes, even gluten intolerance), joint aches and pains, erratic or painful menstrual cycles, PMS, infertility, yeast infections, urinary tract infections, neurological disorders (including autism), rashes, hay fever, diabetes, cancer or just about any other persistent condition that stumps your doctor, then Candida is likely at the foundation of your problems. Even if it’s not, I have not had anyone NOT see results following this regimen.

What if you followed a Candida diet before and it didn’t do anything?

You followed the wrong one. The truth is that most of the literature on Candida is written by people who only understand the theory behind Candida but don’t understand how pervasive it really is and therefore don’t teach a serious protocol that yields lasting results.

The Candida Crusher works! I suggest you pick up a copy here.

Remember to check with a qualified healthcare practitioner before you proceed with this or any other health protocol.

Foie Gras: The Truth behind the Delicacy

foiegras1.jpg

One food that I was excited (yes, I said excited) to see in St. Martin was foie grasFoie gras has gotten a lot of bad press over the years because several special interest groups have decided to target this tiny cottage industry over a lack of understanding the anatomy and feeding habits of geese in the wild as well as the desire to feel powerful and self-righteous in shutting down a few mom and pop operations while battery farms and experiments on children run rampant. It’s a matter of focusing on what one feels is right or wrong, which always leads to pain and suffering for the one casting stones.  It’s a shame.

The reason why people say they are so opposed to the practice of eating or raising foie gras is because it involves a process called gavage or force-feeding a goose or duck to fatten its liver. What is not understood is that these animals “force feed” themselves in nature! In fact, anyone who has seen the gavage performed will notice that the geese clamor around the farmer, knocking one another over, to get to the good stuff! The lies about geese being nailed to the ground are the fabrication of people who have never been anywhere near a real foie gras  farm.

Another concern is that the animal is choking during the process. Remember, we are talking about geese here, not humans, cats, dogs or any other mammal. Geese do not breathe and eat from the same opening. The tube leading to the stomach is much larger than and next to the pulmonary opening.

I have visited many of these farms in Quebec and I can tell you that geese raised for foie gras are the healthiest, cleanest and most respected farm animals I have ever seen. They have tons of space to roam on grass and get plenty of sun — unlike their factory, organic or cage-free chicken cousins. When the gavage happens, it is very quick and happens in the blink of an eye (literally), so there is no lengthy process involved.

And what about the health repercussions? I have never seen an obese foie gras producer. I’m not saying they don’t exist, but they seem to live to an old age, without the signs of advanced aging I notice in the average yogini, and they tend to be very lean. Makes ya think.

The final point I’d like to raise is that there are approximately only 100,000 geese and ducks raised for foie gras every year. Meanwhile, there are over 9 BILLION chickens raised in horrifying conditions such as being boxed in tiny crates, engineered so their legs would break if they walk, de-clawing, de-beaking etc. Yet, many people who are trying to get legislation passed to shut down these small farms would gladly go to the local diner, restaurant or even places like Whole Foods and purchase conventionally raised or so-called cage-free chicken and eggs and not think twice about their decision. (Cage free only means that the animal is still locked in a filthy barn, but just not in a cage) So before we point fingers at one another and try to claim dietary superiority to one another, we must know all of the background and make rational decisions that do not involve our egos.

So even though French people in France are starting to give into irrational, misguided pressure from fanatical groups, it was a real pleasure to see people on St. Martin buying all forms of duck and goose — including foie gras. I just hope they don’t lose their culture and tradition as so many have in the name of self-righteousness.
